IOBit Malware Fighter does exactly what its name suggests as this program has been designed to protect your system from various types of software menaces, such as Trojans, spyware, adware, worms, keyloggers and bots. The program provides redundant virus protection, because it uses its own engine as well as that of BitDefender. It has an intuitive interface, and it is unlikely for anyone to have problems to use it, even if it is the first time.
This AV tool allows you to use various scanning modes. In this regard, you can perform a full scan, which checks all your disks, the registry and memory. It is also possible to run a custom scan by selecting key areas and memory processes as well as specific folder locations. This type of scan can also be started directly from Windows File Manager. Moreover, you can make use of the program’s on-the-cloud service and upload suspicious files so that they can be analyzed using advanced heuristic procedures. Besides regular AV scans, the program also protects you from dangerous websites, tracking data and unwanted browser toolbars.
The real value of an antivirus program resides in its efficacy at stopping threats. Unfortunately, IOBit Malware Fighter does not seem as effective as the leading products in this area, according to specialized statistics. Moreover, even when I used the product’s native scan technology only, it took a long time to perform a full check of my system.
IOBit Malware Fighter has two different editions. If you use the free product, you can receive basic AV protection; yet, other features, such as using BitDefender signatures, detecting suspicious processes, scanning USB drives automatically and analyzing behavior, are not available unless you buy the Pro edition. Likewise, automatic signature updates are only available for a price.
All in all, it does not seem that you can trust all your protection against viruses to IOBit Malware Fighter. I suggest you continue looking for another one as there are even free tools that rank higher in AV effectiveness lists.
